Isolating Oil Analysis

Purpose of Isolating Oil Analysis
The Isolating Oil Analysis is applied in oils belonging to transformers and electric circuit breakers to check their electric insulation properties, as well as equipment deterioration of internal components and their overload, which may cause motor and other electrical equipment burnout and fire in energy substations.
DemonstrationAnalysis Process
The inspectors at Semeq who are trained in electrical systems safety collect oil samples directly from transformers and breakers, which will be analyzed later in a high technology lab.
Types of Tests
Chromatography; Dielectric loss factor; Interfacial tension; Refraction index; Dielectric roughness; Water content; Density; Acidity.
Main detectable defects:
- Oil use conditions;
- Oxidation and corrosion;
- Partial discharges;
- Electric arcs;
- Oil contamination with water and other chemical elements;
- Problems with internal parts manufacturing;
- Insulation low resistance;
- Oil or isolating material overheat.
